“High Performance Through Process Excellence: From Strategy to Operations”
Mathias Kirchmer

Continuously changing customer and market requirements have become a dominating factor in today’s global business environment. Enterprises have to take smart decisions and execute fast. Innovation and agility become key success factors. Process excellence is the glue that brings everything together.
The Management of Process Excellence (MPE) has become a main enabler of High Performance. It leads to a functioning “Real-Time Enterprise”. MPE links strategy with people and technology, like Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA) or Web 2.0. Knowledge assets, such as Process Reference Models, increase productivity. Emergent Processes and Inter-enterprise Collaboration are addressed specifically. MPE delivers Process Governance for large organizations as well as for small and medium enterprises.
The book addresses executives and managers as well as educators and students.

Trainings are usually “used” to improve performance of a person or a team. However, outcomes or effectiveness/efficiency of a training is not easily to be measured and even more difficult to be secured. So how to get performance improvement by trainings?
According to Dale Carnegie, performance improvement will be obtained with below cycle:
1) Attitude Change: builds on the resolve to learn and spurs individuals to envision who they can become
2) Knowledge: provides information, tools, methods and strategies
3) Practice: puts new knowledge into pratice in real-world situations
4) Skill Development: hone skills to deliver breakthrough performance
So, instead of only focusing the phase two of providing knowledge (with classroom trainings), we need to plan the whole four phases. Obtain the needs for improvements (attitude), conduct workshops, on job trainings beside classroom training (knowledge) and don’t forget to provide chances for practicing (practice) and building skills (skills). That is good approach for performance improvement.
